Forrest R. "Hap" White Papers, 1974-1991
[Back to Formatted Version]
Brief Description: The collection consists entirely of 14 audiocassettes of oral histories recorded over several decades that White used for his doctoral dissertation and later book: Pride and Prejudice: School Desegregation and Urban Renewal in Norfolk, 1950-1959.  Interviews include politicians, judges, reporters, and business leaders who were involved in Norfolk school desegregation. Audio quality of some of the interviews is extremely poor and not all interviews contain the complete audio of the interview. Those interviews that were audible have been transcribed and are awaiting review before being added to the Library’s Oral History web page.
