9c. What should be cited?
PreviousNext

You must give acknowledgement to authors any time you use their words or ideas. This can be tricky in situations where ideas are being used. For instance, you may not realize you are plagiarizing the author's ideas when you rewrite an author's text in your own words. We will be exploring plagiarism a bit more in the Ethics section.

Given this statement, any type of material should be cited. Examples:

  • books
  • journal/magazine articles
  • interviews
  • electronic resources
  • e-mail
  • images
  • newspaper articles
  • full-text articles you retrieve from periodical databases
